Stressing Your Teeth
By Catherine Thompson
If I was to tell you I've been a little stressed out lately, you'd probably reply, "Welcome to the club!"
I know stress is nothing new and we all have to deal with it, but do you ever stop to think about how a lot of stress affects your health?
We all know that we can gain or loose weight, be more tired and irritable and taking care of ourselves often falls off.
But I recently learned how our teeth are affected by stress.
This is not something I realized or thought about before.
But my wonderful hygienist Renee told me my bleeding gums were not a result of poor hygiene, but were sensitive and less firm because of stress.
A simple solution is gargling with salt water, but she also gave me a rinse which is already helping so much.
And then I saw a bit on a talk show about this very thing with the same solutions.
Going forward I will now be more aware of taking better care of my whole body better when extra stressed.
Oh and dancing helps me too. So don't be surprised if you run into me and I'm wearing a tutu.
